Dubai Airport closed after plane skids off runway

Dubai: At least 14 people have been injured after a plane skidded off the runway after aborting a take-off at Dubai International Airport .
The airport was closed after the incident involving Biman Bangladesh Air flight BG006 at around 6.30am on Monday morning.
The plane was carrying 236 passengers and crew.
Civil Defence sources said that two of the aircraft's engines were on fire as the plane was about to take off, resulting in one of the wheels breaking on the plane.
Rescue crews were reportedly on the scene within one minute.
Fourteen people were treated for minor injuries and one for moderate injuries as a result of the accident.
The runway has been closed and the authorities are working to clear the debris.
The airport is expected to stay closed until at least 2pm this afternoon and passengers are being advised to call their airline reservation offices for more information about rescheduled flights.
Emirates have so far cancelled 15 flights this morning. Incoming flights have been diverted to other airports in the UAE.
A statement on the Dubai Airport website said: " Biman , Bangladesh Airlines Flight BG 006 from Dubai to Dhaka had an accident during departure and failed to take off around 0630am today.
"All 236 passengers, including crew, are safe, and were immediately evacuated from the aircraft. Fourteen passengers sustained minor injuries...The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and DCA are investigating the cause of the accident."
